Song Sohee, a Korean sound artist resonating deeply in the world with Traditional Korea Sounds

Sohee Song began her career at a young age as a Gyeonggi minyo sori-ga (traditional folk singer), and has since contributed to bringing Korea’s unique vocal heritage to wider audiences. After first stepping into music through sijo, she went on to formally study Gyeonggi folk songs, building a solid foundation that eventually led her to become one of the most recognized traditional artists on both media platforms and international stages. In 2025, she was awarded Traditional Music Artist of the Year at the Brand of the Year Awards, further affirming her achievements.

Alongside her activities in traditional music, Sohee’s curiosity for worlds beyond led her to pursue her own path as a creator. In 2022, she released her first self-written and self-produced single Journey to Utopia (구름곶 여행), followed by Asurajang (세상은 요지경), Airborne (공중무용), and Not a Dream. These works established her clear identity as a singer-songwriter in contemporary music.

Her single Not a Dream especially marked a breakthrough, achieving remarkable chart success both domestically and internationally. Its pre-released live clip has surpassed 17 million views on YouTube. Upon official release, it topped the YouTube Music Top Videos chart (#1, charting for 20 consecutive weeks), reached #1 on Spotify Viral Hits Korea, and entered #16 on Melon HOT100, dominating major streaming platforms. The track also reached #1 on iTunes Finland K-Pop Chart and entered K-Pop charts in more than 15 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Germany, and France, proving her global resonance.

Breaking through genre boundaries, Sohee Song is carving out a new terrain for K-Music. As she herself puts it, “I make Korean music — or simply, the music I want to make.” Embracing both tradition and modernity without letting go of either, she continues her singular musical journey.
