House of Shakira have always been positioned off center in the often too generic
genre of melodic rock – partly because they’ve always had a soft spot for bands like Eagles and the whole Americana and singer/songwriter tradition.

When House of Shakira first entered the scene of melodic rock
back in the early 90’s, their compositions stood out
thanks to elements of non-western music thrown in here and there.

”Revisitation” implies the band taking on their old songs
in a completely new genre – and this time around
the songs might sound as they did from the get-go,
closer to the downscaled manner in which they were written.
Many years ago Per suggested the idea to Mats: ”- We should re-record our old songs and re-arrange them with
a more singer/songwriter approach, since most of our songs are written with just an acoustic guitar and vocals.”

So when it was time to write new material to follow up
’Radiocarbon’ (2019), we agreed that is was time to realize our vision.
After thirty years together we couldn’t go on and just routinely write another album – we needed to feel musical excitement again, ’cause that’s why we started the band in the first place. So we began working on our older songs,
playing around with them, just having fun with the music.

We ended up changing tempos, keys, time signatures, lyrics – more or less stripping the very identity of each song
down to the core – to build them all up again, giving them a new costume.
We even recorded the whole ’Revisitation’ album
before we even started to work on material for ’XIT’, (2023).
In many ways this album represents what we have been aiming for since we started the band: To write the best songs out there, have as much fun as possible
and try every musical idea with an open mind.

With ’XIT’ behind us and ’Revisitation’ ahead of us,
we feel that we’ve somehow, finally accomplished our goal.
