Wax Astronaut steps forward with a bold, cinematic vision that merges hip‑hop, instrumental hip‑hop, electronic, downtempo, and trip hop into a cohesive, atmospheric journey. The debut album, Wax Astronaut, is a fully self-crafted work — a fusion of instruments, machines, and imagination — that charts the emotional and existential terrain of one man’s voyage into the unknown. This includes guitar, bass, synthesizers, and an array of other instruments, and includes appearances by rapper Orlando Coolridge.
At the heart of the project is a narrative inspired by Icarus, reimagined within a retro-futuristic landscape. Through pulsing beats, textured synths, and gravity-bending rhythms, the album explores the fragile tension between ambition and consequence.
In the artist’s own words: “Wax Astronaut is the efforts of one individual using his instruments and machines to tell the story of one man’s journey into space. The forthcoming self-titled project follows the story of Icarus, set in a retro-futuristic landscape. The album will explore the delicate balance between aspiration, risk, and hubris.”
Wax Astronaut invites listeners into a world where myth meets machinery, where the ancient cautionary tale of reaching too close to the sun is refracted through analog warmth, and the introspective pulse of modern beat-driven music.
