Maryland-based progressive rock band Aethellis has officially returned to the studio and is currently recording a brand-new album, working under the title Change the Play. The upcoming release will feature four to five tracks, balancing both extended compositions and shorter pieces, all showcasing the band’s signature blend of musical pyrotechnics and cleverly constructed, prog-infused arrangements.
This will mark Aethellis’ fifth studio release, with tentative completion planned for spring 2026. Change the Play will be the band’s first new material since the release of The Affinity Oeuvre in late 20. This album further cemented their reputation within the modern progressive rock scene.
About Aethellis
Aethellis draws from the soaring majesty of classic symphonic rock while incorporating a contemporary rhythmic sensibility. Their sound is defined by asymmetrical meters, polytriad harmonies, and—when you least expect it—the occasional irresistibly catchy hook.
