In a post on Olivia Hadjiioannou Facebook page aka Oh. she describes the song Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas Cover)
As a kid, I was a total nature freak. One of my biggest dreams as a child was to live in the forest, barefoot, surrounded by trees.
Pocahontas and The Jungle Book were my favorite films because they showed people who lived “with” nature, not just on top of it.
I didn’t understand the deeper stories back then. I know Pocahontas as a film carries a controversy. It retells a painful truth through a softened, romantic lens.
But as a child, I didn’t understand that…. I didn’t even notice the romantic story-line.
“Colors of the Wind” was the first song that spoke about how everything is alive and that spirit moves through it all.
