About Refestramus:
Born during the COVID-19 lockdown in May 2020, Refestramus began as drummer/lyricist Derek Ferguson’s home studio project. A veteran of several Chicago prog bands, Ferguson enlisted Ian Beabout—host of the Internet radio show Prog Rock Deep Cuts—to mix and master the early recordings. By the time of the band’s 2024 album Intouríst, Beabout had taken on the role of Co-Producer.
Their full-length debut, Decoupage, was released in 2021, followed by the EP From the Sublime to the Ridiculous in 2022, and the critically praised Intouríst in 2024.
ProgUK says Intouríst is “a home-cooked slice of melody-rich prog… pure ‘70s retro pastiche, and the smile on its face is infectious.”
Prog Rock Journal calls it “a recommended listen for lovers of modern progressive music with strong keyboard work, dynamic vocals, and elaborate rhythm sections.”
Prog Thief notes: “Despite a track titled ‘Zombie Apocalypse,’ the music sounds bright—almost happy.”
