Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (March 14, 1933 – November 3, 2024)
Legendary music producer and cultural icon Quincy Jones has passed away at age 91 at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles. Known for his profound influence across jazz, pop, and film music, Jones produced monumental albums, including Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and contributed to films like The Color Purple. He also played a vital role in philanthropic efforts, such as the charity single “We Are the World.” His family shared that his life and love touched countless people worldwide, leaving an indelible legacy. Jones has been honored in multiple Halls of Fame. In 2013, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recognizing his remarkable influence on popular music and his role as a producer. Additionally, in 2021, he was included in the inaugural class of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, which celebrates Black artists who have made significant contributions to music and culture, also a 28-time Grammy Award winner with over record 80 nominations.
